Name:
Chaotik Ramses
Real Name:
Chris Honorat
Profile:
After a dozen years in the conservatory, following a classical formation (theory, percussion, piano and horn), Chris Honorat aka Chaotik Ramses decides to concentrate on electronic music. Machines and hardware have always fascinated Chris, his influences are wide ranging: Kraftwerk, Jean-Michel Jarre, new wave groups such as Depeche Mode, New Order along with some disco touches. Pioneering techno radio stations like FG and Maxximum allow him to discover techno, it’s on FG that he gains his first experience as a DJ, under the name of The Exorcist in late 1992. He hosts a radio show on this Parisian station every Friday night for a year and a half. During the same period he decides to consecrate himself completely to music and works at Laurent Garnier’s Parisian record shop USA Import. He starts mixing more and more across France and Europe, starts tinkering with machines and gets into production. After a couple of tracks which make it into compilations, and three singles on Step 2 House, in 1995 he signs to F Communications, the label run by Eric Morand and Laurent Garnier. He changes his pseudonym – Chaotik Ramses is born. Wishing to further the French electronic music scene, in parallel he gets involved in organising parties with the ‘Mentasm’ collective from 1995 to 1996. He is also co-founder of the D-Mention parties (1997 and 1998), which brought together 6.000 ravers. He becomes the resident DJ at the mythic Rex club, first of all with D-Club where he invites the cream of US DJs, notably from Detroit, this sound is his strongest musical influence. Next follow the Automatik parties every Friday, which are today the reference in techno parties in Paris and in France. Today Chris multiplies the collaborations with different artists, as well as releasing singles and remixes on labels such as Wall Keys, A-Traction and Kobayashi, always looking to advance his music. Stay tuned to this frequency…
